Environment Focus Area

Summary: “Too new to tell”

What sets this new focus area apart from the others is that it is the only one without a directly corresponding city department, or key business unit. Transportation involves the Department of Transportation, CATS, and the airport; community safety is tied to the police and fire departments; Economic Development and Planning and Housing and Neighborhood Development also have city departments. However, it is the county, not the city, that has an environmental agency. Thus, from the city perspective this focus area is really a major subset of planning, and it will be interesting to see if it can sustain itself as a separate committee.
